Won Fastnet Race - Class40 division

2009 - Fastnet Race

Initiatives Saveurs - Novedia Group | Class40

Skipper: Tanguy de Lamotte

The Rolex Fastnet Race is one of the great offshore classics. Cowes to the Fastnet Rock and back to Plymouth, 608 miles of the Irish Sea and the Atlantic at their most unpredictable.

I raced aboard Initiatives Saveurs with Tanguy de Lamotte, one of the most experienced solo offshore sailors in France. We led the Class 40 fleet throughout, and after rounding the Fastnet Rock we were hooning along in 15-22 knots of westerly breeze with relatively flat seas. The competition from Giovanni Soldini was relentless, closing from 13 miles behind to within six miles, but we held on to win the Class 40 division.

It was a brilliant race to be part of. The Fastnet always delivers.
